This Week
in Gwinnett.
Hey Neighbor,
Last week my wife and I loaded up the boys and drove north to Helen for the 53rd annual Hot Air Balloon event. Four boys, a long mountain road, and a sky about to fill with color — I wasn't sure what we'd get, but it turned into one of those days you tuck away and keep.
We just enjoyed it. No agenda, no rushing. Watching some of those balloons lift off with my family standing next to me reminded me how much is right here within reach. Georgia is full of amazing adventures for families — you don't have to go far to find wonder.

That same spirit is everywhere this weekend. The USMNT plays its World Cup opener TONIGHT, a brand-new gaming stronghold opens in Buford, and there's a fresh coffee spot I can't wait to put in front of you.
Let's get into it. — Gus

Gus's Hidden Gem
Every week I find one place in Gwinnett that deserves more love. This week it's Wise Coffee in Suwanee.
Tucked at 1095 Old Peachtree Rd NW, Wise was started by two childhood friends — Wilson and Sebastian — who turned a lifelong friendship into a neighborhood gathering spot. They partner with Rev Coffee Roasters out of Smyrna, and the menu leans into culture and creativity: think Black Sesame Latte, Strawberry Matcha Lemonade, and a yuzu refresher that's perfect for a Georgia summer. A 4.9-star rating tells you the regulars already know.
If you've never stopped in, this is your nudge. Order something you can't pronounce, grab a pastry, and stay a while. One specific thing to try: the Black Sesame Latte — it's the kind of drink you'll be telling people about.
⚡ Quick Hits
Rapid fire — five things worth knowing this weekend:
⚽ USA plays TONIGHT at 9 PM ET vs. Paraguay (FOX / free on Tubi). The group stage runs through June 27, with Atlanta matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
🎟️ Mark your calendar: Explore Gwinnett's free watch parties continue June 15 (Gwinnett Field), June 27 (Suwanee), July 7 (Peachtree Corners), and July 15 (Norcross).
☀️ It's farmers market season. The Suwanee Farmers Market runs Saturday mornings all summer — fresh, local, and worth the early alarm.
🎲 New in Buford: Level Up Games opens Saturday — free walk-in, free cotton candy, and a DeLorean in the parking lot. Bring the kids.
😎 And if you see a guy in Helen still grinning about hot air balloons a week later… yeah, that's me.
Until Next Time
Whether you're cheering on the USMNT, rolling dice in Buford, or sipping something new in Suwanee — get out there this weekend. The best parts of Gwinnett don't come find you. You go find them.
