This Week
in Gwinnett.

Hey Neighbor,

So this past Saturday, my family and I rolled into the Asian Culture Festival in Suwanee for the last two hours — and let me tell you, even the back end of that festival had more life in it than most full-day events I've been to.

We caught the food vendors first (obviously — I have priorities, and so does my stomach). Then we wandered past folks selling handmade crafts and products they'd clearly poured their hearts into, sipped some signature coffees and drinks I couldn't pronounce but absolutely ordered again, and stood there grinning at the performances happening on stage. It wasn't just a celebration of Asian culture — it was a celebration of people showing up, sharing what they make, and inviting the whole county in.

I keep saying it: this is what makes Gwinnett, Gwinnett. We almost didn't go because we were running late. So glad we did. (I'll let the photos do the talking below.)

And hey — quick heads up before we dive in: Father's Day is in two Sunday’s. So if you've got a dad, a grandad, or a guy who insists on grilling everything in a 40-foot radius, keep that in your back pocket as you read.

Speaking of which — If you are a dad or grandad, reply with what you would like to receive… and if you are planning to gift a dad in your life, reply with what you’ll be giving them, I would like to know and share it. 🧦

Let's get into the week.

Worth Knowing This Week 🤝

A county resource worth keeping in your back pocket

The Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry (52 Gwinnett Drive, Suite C, Lawrenceville · 770-339-7887) has been quietly serving Gwinnett families since 1995. Their community food bank provides canned goods, fresh produce, bread, meat, and dairy to neighbors getting back on their feet after a job loss, an illness, or a hard season. Distribution days are Monday (9 AM–7 PM) and Wednesday + Friday (9 AM–Noon) — bring a photo ID for each adult, ID for each child, and a piece of mail dated within 30 days.

Whether you need them or want to donate to them, this is the kind of neighbor-helping-neighbor work that makes Gwinnett worth bragging about. → lawrencevilleco-op.org

Gus' Pick of the Week ☕

Coffee Spotlight: Cafe Amico — Suwanee

If you find yourself wandering downtown Suwanee this week, do yourself a favor and step into Cafe Amico (320 Town Center Ave) — right there in the heart of the Town Center action. They recently rebranded, they roast their coffee in-house, and the signature White Chocolate Latte is the kind of thing you'll text a friend about. The vibe is cozy, the patio's perfect for people-watching, and the menu runs deeper than coffee — think Nutella croissants, avocado toast, and a few surprises.

It's the spot to land before the Porch Jam Friday night, or to slow down on a Saturday morning when you've got nowhere to be. Order the White Chocolate Latte. Thank me later. → Cafe Amico on Yelp

Before You Go 💛

Saturday at that festival, watching strangers share food and music and stories they were proud of, I was reminded that community isn't a place — it's a decision we keep making to show up for each other.

On Father's Day. If your dad's still around, call him. If he's not, call someone who's been one to you. And either way — get out there this week. Gwinnett's putting on a show, and there's a seat saved for you.

See you out there,

Gus
