Hey Neighbor,
I'm not going to pretend I'm over it. Monday night I sat on my couch fully believing this was our year — World Cup on home soil, the whole country watching, all of it right there. Then Belgium scored. And scored again.
By the fourth goal I wasn't even mad anymore, just quiet. My family knows the look. I couldn’t talk to anyone for a solid twenty minutes.
But here's the thing about a tough loss — it makes you appreciate what's still in front of you. And what's in front of us? Summer break is almost over, and honestly... I'm ready.
Ready for the school-year rhythm, the morning routines, the Friday night lights creeping back onto the calendar. There's something about this stretch of July that feels like a deep breath before a good season. Gwinnett's about to get busy again, and I love it.
Let’s get into it.

You Tell Me: One Question, One Reply
Since we're all (or a good number of us) still processing Monday, let's settle something fun:
What's your go-to way to shake off a bad day or week?
A) A long walk at a park or on a trail
B) Comfort food at a local restaurant
C) Coffee and people-watching downtown
D) Retail therapy somewhere local
E) Something Else…(tell me what)
Just hit reply and send me a letter — A, B, C, or D. That's it. Takes two seconds. I read every single reply, and I'll share the results (plus a few of your best answers) in next week's email. Looking forward to hearing from you.
📸 Show Us Your #GwinnettBest —
Y'all keep telling me about your favorite spots around the county, so let's make it official. Snap a photo from wherever you love in Gwinnett — your favorite park, the restaurant you always end up at, the coffee shop that knows your order — and post it with #GwinnettBest. Tag us on Instagram too, so we actually see it. @gwinnettbest
Here's the deal: we'll feature you AND the spot on our Instagram.

You get the shoutout, the local business gets the love, and everyone scrolling finds their next favorite place. That's the whole point of this thing — neighbors putting each other on. Get posting.
☕ Coffee Spot Highlight: Reyna's in Downtown Lawrenceville

If you haven't found Reyna's yet, fix that this week. It's tucked right in downtown Lawrenceville, and it's become one of my regular stops.
My order? The iced horchata latte — sweet, cinnamon-y, and dangerous because one is never enough.
And if you're hungry, get the chorizo molletes. Trust me on this one. It's the kind of place where you walk in a customer and walk out a regular. Tell them your neighbor sent you.
This Weekend & Beyond: Don't Miss These (July 9–13)
Before we get to next week — the next few days are loaded. Here's what's worth leaving the house for:

Thrive in Your Hive (For Seniors) — Thursday, July 9 · 12:00–1:30 PM · Buford-Sugar Hill Library Branch. A free program built just for seniors — health, community, and everything your library can do for you, all over a relaxed lunchtime hour. If you've got a parent or grandparent in the Buford area, send this their way. 👉 Details
Karaoke Night at Slow Pour Brewing (21+) — Friday, July 10 · 8:00–11:00 PM · Downtown Lawrenceville. Free, every Friday, and always a good time. Grab a beer, grab the mic, embarrass yourself a little. That's what Fridays are for. 👉 Details
Viva Las Duluth — Saturday, July 11 · 5:30–9:00 PM · Downtown Duluth Town Green. Vegas comes to Gwinnett — magicians, cirque-style dancers, impersonators, and yes, word is Elvis will be in the building. Free, and grab your lawn chairs early. This is the one everybody will be talking about Monday. 👉 Details
Suwanee Celebrates America 250 — Saturday, July 11 · 3:00–9:00 PM · Suwanee Town Center. Suwanee's kicking off America's 250th birthday celebration with a full evening downtown. Same day as Viva Las Duluth, so you've officially got a Saturday decision to make. Good problem to have. 👉 Details

⚡ Lightning Round: What to Look Forward To Next Week
Next week (July 13–19) is stacked, and I want you to have these on the calendar before they sneak up on you. I'll be covering these in more detail in next week's email — consider this your heads-up:
Movie Monday: Karate Kid: Legends — Monday, July 13 · Norcross · 1:30 PM & 6:30 PM showings. Two chances to catch it, and it's an easy last-week-of-summer-break win with the kids.
World Cup Watch Party — Wednesday, July 15 · 2:00–7:00 PM · Lillian Webb Park, Norcross. The tournament goes on without us (still hurts), but semifinal soccer on a big screen in the park? I'll be there anyway.
Summer Break Magic Show — Wednesday, July 15 · 11:30 AM · Aurora Children's Playhouse at the Lawrenceville Arts Center. One last summer-break memory before the backpacks come out.
Rock The Block: Live & Loud Fridays — Friday, July 17 · 6:00–9:00 PM · Downtown Duluth. Duluth's Friday nights are the blueprint. Live music, food, the whole town out.
Summer Concert Series: Guardians of the Jukebox — Friday, July 17 · 7:30–9:30 PM · Thrasher Park, Norcross. Bring a chair, bring a cooler, thank me later.
Family Fun Day & Back to School Event — Saturday, July 18 · 10:00 AM–1:00 PM · Lawrenceville Lawn. Free, family-friendly, and built around the new GCPS school year. If your kids need supplies and you need a fun morning, this is both.
Suwanee Farmers Market — Saturday, July 18 · 8:00 AM–12:00 PM · Town Center. Still the most Gwinnett thing you can do before noon.
Full details, my picks, and a few hidden gems on all of these — coming your way next Thursday.
Before You Go...
One last thing, and it's a big one. If this email made you smile, made you hungry, or gave you a single weekend plan — forward it to one person. A neighbor, a coworker, that friend who just moved here and keeps asking "so what is there to do in Gwinnett?"
They can sign up free at gwinnettbest.com. Every forward grows this little community of ours, and that's how we keep finding the best of Gwinnett — together.
The team lost Monday. The neighborhood didn't. See you out there.
