We hit downtown Norcross for the fourth time since we moved here, and it's officially our go-to move now when we head in that direction from Lawrenceville: cold brew first, boys loose second.
Saturday morning we parked near Refuge Coffee, I ordered a cold brew (my personal litmus test for any coffee shop), and then we made the two-minute walk from the counter to the splash pad at Lillian Webb Park. The boys were asking about it before I'd finished my first sip.
That little stretch — coffee in hand, splash pad in sight, the old downtown library building watching over the corner — might be the most underrated 15 minutes in the county. It was literally just us enjoying this walk after playing our brains out at Chick E Cheese.

☕ Gus's Coffee Pick: Refuge Coffee Co. (Norcross)
I judge a coffee shop almost entirely on how they make black coffee — no syrup, no oat milk to hide behind. Refuge passed. Ordered a cold brew, and it was clean, strong, no bitterness trying to pass as "bold."
Beyond the coffee: Refuge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that trains and employs resettled refugees and immigrants. Every cup you buy is doing double duty. Cold brew and nitro are both on the menu, along with regular drip if that's more your speed.
