Hey Neighbor,
This past Saturday, I took my wife and all four of my boys to the 5th Annual Trickum Middle School Car Show — and I'm still smiling about it.
I went with my camera, ready to film for the This Is Gwinnett Show on YouTube. But honestly? I didn't expect it to hit me the way it did. You had teachers, families, local neighbors, car enthusiasts — all different backgrounds, all there for the same reason: to raise money for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
I got to interview three of the car show participants on camera, and all three of them ended up winning a Top 10 prize. That felt like something.
My boys were everywhere — checking out the cars, eating, just being kids in the best way. My wife had a genuinely great time. And then the moment that got me: two people walked up and introduced themselves as newsletter subscribers. Said they'd already seen the interview clips on the YouTube channel. I don't know if I'll ever get used to that feeling.
Gwinnett keeps proving itself to me, week after week.
And this week? It's doing it again. We've got live music, campfire nights, a Relay for Life walk, a brand new Story Walk in Suwanee, and two coffee shops worth the detour.
- Gus.
Let's get into it. 👇

🎵 LIVE MUSIC / THINGS THAT FEEL GOOD

🎸 Steam Night featuring The Duluth Cluster Band
Thursday, April 23 | Downtown Duluth, GA
If you've never been to a Steam Night in Duluth, this is your sign to change that. The Duluth Cluster Band takes the stage for a live outdoor concert in one of the most charming downtowns in Gwinnett. Bring a chair, grab dinner from one of the local spots on Main Street, and let the music do the rest. These nights have a way of turning into the best Thursday you've had in a while.

FOR FAMILIES
🔥 S'mores in the Park
Friday, April 24 | Downtown Duluth, GA
Grab the kids and head downtown for one of Duluth's coziest community nights. S'mores in the Park is exactly what it sounds like — a laid-back, family-friendly evening where you roast marshmallows, connect with neighbors, and remember why living here is kind of the best. It's low-key, it's free-spirited, and it's the kind of Friday night that becomes a core memory.

🏕️ S'mores 'N Snores — Overnight Campout
Saturday, April 25 | Downtown Duluth, GA
They're taking the S'mores experience to the next level this weekend. S'mores 'N Snores is an overnight campout experience right in the heart of Duluth — think tents, stars, campfire stories, and waking up in the middle of a city that actually feels like a community. It's a one-of-a-kind Gwinnett experience that your kids (and honestly, you) will talk about for weeks.

🚶 Story Walk Grand Opening
Sunday, April 26 | 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM | Suwanee, GA
Suwanee is opening a brand new Story Walk — a nature trail where the pages of a children's book are spread out along the path, so kids read as they walk. It's one of the most creative ideas I've seen a city pull off, and it's totally free. A perfect Sunday morning or afternoon with the little ones.

Before You Go (A word from Gus)
I've been thinking a lot lately about what makes a place feel like home.
It's not the zip code. It's not the square footage. It's moments like pulling up to a campfire with your kids, or watching strangers cheer for someone walking a cancer lap, or discovering a coffee shop that somehow already feels familiar.
That's what Gwinnett keeps giving us — week after week.
I'm grateful to do this with you. See you out there.
Know someone who'd love this? Forward this email to a neighbor, a friend, or that person in your circle who's always asking "what's going on this weekend?" Let's make sure they're in the loop.
