Hey Neighbor,

Okay, I have to tell you about last Thursday.

We had our very first Dinner Club. I was so nervous about it. But it turned out so good.

People walked in as total strangers. A few hours later, they were laughing like old friends. I saw people trade phone numbers. Looked like some already made plans to hang out again. One table started calling themselves "our table" by the end of the night. That's exactly what I hoped would happen.

Here's the part that really got me: about 1 out of every 3 people who came already booked a seat for next month. That tells you everything you need to know.

I got a little bit of it on video — watch it here →

Now it's your turn. The next Dinner Club is happening in Duluth, and I want you at the table.

THIS WEEK IN GWINNETT (Mon, Aug 10 – Sun, Aug 16)

FREE FOR FAMILIES (this is for you, Cindy)

Bilingual Storytime: Español

— Thursday, August 13, 6:00–6:30 PM

Gwinnett County Public Library, Peachtree Corners Branch · 5570 Spalding Drive, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092 · Free

Bilingual stories and songs with Ms. Mirka, for kids ages 0–5.

Why this is great for families: if you're raising a bilingual little one — or just want your kid hearing more than one language early — this is a low-pressure, 30-minute way to build that habit into your week.

FREE Fishing Derby (Ages 15 & Under)

— Saturday, August 15, 9:30–11:30 AM

Gwinnett Community Resource Center · 3025 Bethany Church Rd, Snellville, GA 30039 · Free

Kids try to reel in the pond's 30-lb trophy fish. Complimentary bait for the first 75 kids, prizes handed out, no fishing license required — bring your own gear if you've got it, and a signed parent/guardian waiver is required on-site.

Why this is great for families: this is one of those free Saturday mornings that turns into a core memory — if your kid has never actually caught a fish, get them signed up before the free bait runs out.

Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie Workshop

(a few local sites list it as "Kids Build a Dino Island Volcano" — same event) — Saturday, August 15, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM (30–45 min time slots)

Lowe's · Free, registration required (spots limited)

A free PAW Patrol-themed building workshop for kids. Heads up: Lowe's registration is store-by-store — make sure you select the Braselton location when you register, not just whichever store loads first.

Why this is great for families: this is my go-to answer when my kid needs a project and I need 45 quiet minutes — zero cost, zero planning on my end.

🎵 LIVE MUSIC (For you Ringo)

Free — Rock the Block: Live & Loud Fridays — Friday, August 14, 6:00–9:00 PM

Town Green, Downtown Duluth · Free

A free live band from 6:00–7:15 PM, then The Greatest Showman on the big screen. Food trucks on site — bring a blanket and make a night of it. Runs most Fridays through August 28.

Why this is great for everyone: this is a go-to for a cheap Friday night — pack a blanket, grab food truck dinner, and you've got a full family evening for free.

❤️ DATE NIGHT ALERT

Añejo — Downtown Lawrenceville (DTL)

165 N Perry St, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

Sun–Thu 11:00 AM–10:00 PM · Fri–Sat 11:00 AM–12:00 AM

Upscale Mexican — elevated tacos, molcajetes, and a full cocktail menu in a gorgeous DTL space.

Why this is great for a date night: this is where we ran our very first Dinner Club, and watching that room fill up with strangers-turned-friends sealed it for me — it's a real "dress up a little, order the good margarita" kind of night out.

Fire & Stone — Peachtree Corners

5215 Town Center Blvd, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092

Mon–Thu 11:30 AM–10:00 PM · Fri 11:30 AM–11:00 PM · Sat 12:00–11:00 PM · Sun 12:00–9:00 PM

Wood-fired pizza and Italian favorites right in Town Center.

Why this is great for a date night: this is my move when we want a night out that doesn't feel like a whole production — split a pizza, share a bottle, and you're out the door without needing a reservation weeks out.

NEXT UP: DINNER CLUB — DULUTH

Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM · Downtown Duluth

Here's how it works: take a quick quiz, and we match you with 5 neighbors you haven't met yet. Just show up hungry — we pick the restaurant and tell you where the morning of. Good food, real talk, no awkward planning.

A couple things to know:

  • Bring your plus one. Got a friend or spouse who wants in? Bring them.

  • This one's for grown-ups — anyone 21 and up is welcome. No upper age limit.

Why I'm pushing this so hard: watching total strangers turn into "our table" in one night is the whole reason I started GwinnettBest — if you've lived here a while but don't really know your neighbors, this is the fastest way to fix that.

Seats go fast. Choose your neighborhood and reserve your seat → (seat pricing shows at checkout — it isn't listed on the booking page itself, so I'm not quoting a number here)

Can't make Sept 9? Get on the list at the same link, and you'll be first to know about the next one.

☕ Coffee Spot to Go: TradeWind Coffee Co. (Dacula)

2300 Liam Ave #200, Dacula, GA 30019

Mon–Sat 7:00 AM–8:00 PM · Sun 8:00 AM–7:00 PM

Locally roasted specialty coffee, loose-leaf tea, and a real food menu — sandwiches, breakfast items, oatmeal, and more, all day long. Most drinks and bites run $2–$5 (espresso starts around $2.45, lattes around $4.35, sandwiches $3.75–$5.15).

Why this is great for: this is becoming my go-to when I actually need to get work done outside the house — the food menu means I can turn it into a full work session instead of just a coffee run.

Before you go!

This weekend I hopped on a plane for a quick one-night trip to Charleston to meet with Nick — we're building a coaching program together that we'll be launching in the coming weeks.

It was great to get away for a minute, talk shop, and dream a little bigger. But if I'm honest? I missed being home with my family and being back here in Gwinnett the entire time. Turns out even a good work trip can't compete with home.

Speaking of home — Wednesday, September 9, Downtown Duluth. Bring your plus one. Reserve your seat →

See you at the table, Neighbor.
