Hey neighbor,

This week I read a story that stopped me in my tracks. It's about a young cheerleader right here in Gwinnett whose team ended up being just her.

She could have walked away. Nobody would have blamed her. She didn't.

I keep thinking about how many of us are standing alone on some mat right now.

A business that feels like a one-person team. A family season that feels heavier than it should. A dream that nobody else seems to see yet.

Her story is down below, and I hope it gives you the same push it gave me.

And hey, if you missed Tuesday's news: Dinner Club is coming to Downtown Buford on Thursday, Nov 19! More on that below.

💛 GUS' HIDDEN GEM: TASTE OF BRITAIN, NORCROSS

Every week I find one place in Gwinnett that deserves more love. This week it's…

Taste of Britain in historic downtown Norcross.

It's been sitting on South Peachtree Street since 1989, and somehow a lot of us still walk right past it. Step inside and you're in a little corner of England: shelves of British teas, chocolates, biscuits and toffee, plus traditional foods like steak and kidney pies, English bangers, and Cornish pasties. They've already got their Christmas treats and gifts out, too.

What to try: grab a Cornish pasty for lunch and a pack of proper British biscuits to go with your afternoon tea.

Why I love it: you're already going to be in Norcross this weekend for the Night Market. Go a little early on Saturday, stop in here first, and pick up a stocking stuffer nobody else will think of.

💬 ONE PERSON. ONE STORY.

Jorgia, the one-girl cheer team

Jorgia cheers for Peachtree Ridge's youth program in the Gwinnett Football League.

This season, she ended up as a team of one. Instead of pulling out, she took the floor at the GFL Cheer Off by herself.

And she won.

As the Gwinnett Daily Post put it in their headline: "It took courage."

I read that and thought about every one of us who's ever felt like the last one standing. Jorgia, Gwinnett is proud of you.

  • 🌙 Local observation: it's officially the time of year when you leave work, it's pitch black, and your brain insists it's 9 PM. It's 5:45. Go to the Night Market anyway.

🙏 UNTIL NEXT TIME

Whatever you're carrying into this weekend, remember Jorgia.

Show up anyway. Do the routine anyway.

You never know who's watching and getting braver because of you.

Thanks for being here. Gwinnett is better because you're in it.
